New Certificate in Professional Communication and Leadership
(July 4, 2012) Armstrong announces the addition of a new graduate certificate in professional communication and leadership to help professionals and recent graduates gain a competitive edge and fast track their careers. The program is beneficial to individuals in the military, business world and healthcare, among others, as well as undergraduate degree holders interested in launching their careers and making the transition to a professional setting.
The Professional Communication and Leadership Certificate is a 15-credit hour, standalone certificate program that awards graduate-level academic credit. At the core of the program are four courses that focus on writing and management: professional communication strategies, technical editing, organizational communication in diverse contexts and leadership in the public arena. In addition, students choose one more specialized course in information design, psychology, leadership, communication or ethics. The curriculum is designed to sharpen verbal and written communication abilities in its students and to teach best practices for organizational leadership. The interdisciplinary nature of the certificate facilitates real-world application in a variety of workplace settings.
The program has also been created with flexible class schedules for those already working and will appeal to:
• those who need or desire more training in workplace communication and leadership, but not a Master's degree.
• recent graduates who want to enhance their education by expanding their communication and leadership talents, while also obtaining specialized, practical skills.
• those interested in graduate training in communication and leadership but not yet certain if they want a Master's degree.
