Armstrong Brings Home Three Best of Savannah Awards
(June 3, 2014) Armstrong was well represented this year in Connect’s Best of Savannah awards, with recipients from a soccer team to a recent graduate to a professor’s blog.
The Armstrong women’s soccer team, coached by Eric Faulconer, won the Best College Sports Team award.
This season, the team finished 14th in the country and had an 11-4-3 final record.
“We’re so honored to have gotten this award,” Faulconer said. “These girls have a lot to be proud of. We had a great season.”
Maunalee Hashemi, who graduated with an English degree in 2013, received the Best Local Radio Personality award for her work on the Morning Showgram on Bob 106.9. Though she’s no longer with the Showgram, she still beat out Kotter from Rock 106.1 for her award.
Bill Dawers, instructor of English at Armstrong, won the Best Local Newspaper Columnist award, as he has in previous years. His column for the Savannah Morning News, City Talk, discusses local topics ranging from government to entertainment.
