Where:Fine Arts Auditorium
Admission:free admission, no tickets necessary

About this event:
AMT presents guest artist, soprano Elissa Alvarez, D.M.A., and Savannah's own Velvet Caravan in guest artist recital in Fine Arts Auditorium.

The split program opens with Alvarez performing a zesty assortment of Spanish, Hebrew and Colombian songs accompanied by Armstrong's Benjamin Warsaw, piano. Alvarez and Warsaw specialize in the interpretation of twentieth-century song and perform works by Warsaw written specifically for their collaborations. The duo's recitals have included performances for Massachusetts Peace Action, the Concert Series at the Church of St. John the Evangelist (Boston), and The Ethical Society of Boston.

The distinctive panache of Velvet Caravan's self-described "Low Country gypsy jazz" follows. Velvet Caravan is one of the most unusual ensembles in the music business. Combining Gypsy, Honky-Tonk, Swing and Latin, this band plays upbeat tunes from all over the world with thunderous virtuosity and relentless sense of humor.

Open to the public. Free admission, no tickets needed.
